: My water pipes our in the attic, copper, and when I turn on the facuets the pipes rattle, thru out the house. What do I do for that. It could be a number of things. Does it do this on one particular faucet or every faucet? Banging of the pipes could be a loose washer on one of the stems on the faucet, or the copper lines themselves could be vibrating from the shock of shuting the faucet off. Sometimes you can see the pipes shake and in that case, supporting them with copper straps would be the ideal thing to do. If the lines are not exposed, a component called a hammer aerestor would be installed to take the shock and stop the noise.
