We live in an old house(1940's) with the washer and dryer in the basement. The washer drains through the p-trap and then down through the basement floor drain. When the washer drains it is too much for the drain pipe and overflows. I have snaked the drain pipe a couple of times and it has still not improved the problem. I think the biggest problem is that the plumbing is so old the pipes have enough build up and the snake won't do the job. I was hoping that there was a way to make the water from the washer drain up and be able to tie into a line upstairs? Is this possible and what is needed? Or is there any other advice that might work better?
