: Solvang California has water that is more mineral than water (up to 45 grains per gallon) and most people : here have water softeners. We would like to keep our plumbing from turning into a calcium/magnesium : mess but are very much opposed to dumping the required amount of salt brine down the drain (90 gallons : every few days) to save our pipes. I have read about magnetic and semiprecious metal water "Conditioners" on : the web, but have not found any convincing scientific test results. Do magnetic conditioners really work? : Or are they really too good to be true?
