: I'm trying to decide whether to replace my 70 yr old galvanized pipes with plastic or copper. Will the plastic make my water (city) taste like the inside of a plastic canteen? So far, I think I'll go with plastic strictly because of cost. Rodents eating plastic isn't likely where I live, sagging isn't a big consideration because the house is so small, and if it lasts only 50 years instead of 100, that's fine. So am I being dumb for going with plastic instead of the "good stuff"?
