You are reading something wrong, since you cannot install a toilet over a trap and expect it to flush properly. : In both the uniform plumbing code and the Florida Plumbing code, it says the minimum trap size for a water closet shall be consistent with the fixture outlet size. On all the plumbing drawings I've ever seen, the trap size for a water closet was 4" despite the fixture outlet size being less than 3". Why wouldn't the trap size be listed as 3"? : Thanks for your help.
