In response to Re: pressure relief on old boiler
: I rent an old house as an office and it has a 50 +-year old gas fired hot water boiler . I asked the owner's plumber recently if it had a pressure relief valve and he said yes it was next to the fast fill valve. I convinced him to change both, they were very old. Should there be a relief valve right on the boiler? The existing (now new)relief valve is on the 1/2" feed line about 4' from the boiler.

As long as the relief valve is in good working order it will still sense pressure build up of the system and blow off from where it is located.
