Unless you replace all the piping, using a heavier gauge might not help, unless that particular section of pipe is arranged in such a way that it is subject to greater erosion. My recommendation is to install a globe valve on the OUTLET of the pump and then use it to reduce the pump's flow rate until it is just adequate to maintain the temperature in the pipes. : Would the plumbers (hj and others) advise replacing the eroded pipe and if so, what about using heavier gauge? I'm assuming that light gauge was used in original installation.
