: : My Hydrotherm gas boiler and related equiptment, emit a moaning , crying sound, when heating water. The boiler is in the basement, unheated, but stays around 58 degrees. The pressure relief valve, fast fill and expansion tank are new. I sounds like an expansion noise, but it also sounds like a moaning animal..sorry thats the best I can describe it...any ideas? thanks for your input... PS I cant tell where the noise is coming from..i put a tube to my ear and listende all around..but no definite answer

: Sounds like you may have a sediment build-up in the tubes of the boiler, this creates an air pocket inside and does tend to howl. You need to pump a descaler in your system, let it circulate for a week or so then flush out the system, this will usually clear up the problem
