The code inspector said they were fine for burying (at least in Michigan). Fortunately I was putting them on new 4" PVC so it wasn't as much work as on cast iron. I installed them this weekend to replace the weak joint I had with the couplings and he's going to inspect it tomorrow. Then maybe I can lay the concrete and move on to other aspects of the basement remodeling project. Thanks again for the advice.
