Anti-scald on whirlpool

My builder installed fixtures with anti-scald devices in the tub and shower of my home on the top floor. I have never been able to take a warm bath in the whirlpool and only after changing the shower head on the shower am I able to take a warm shower. Unfortunately, replacing the spout on the whirlpool is not that easy. It is a Kohler product, that is wall mounted at least 9 inches long. Is it possible to have a plumber simply remove the spout and remove the anti-scald device, or must I replace the spout (long ones are hard to find), or do I have to replace the entire faucet.
