: We live in a 118 yr old house with a lead water line from the meter (in our front yard) to the house which is approximately 60 feet. Due to limited volume (pressure is fine), I would like to replace it from the meter to the house with 1" copper. My question is how do I make the connection to the meter and is this likely to increase the volume in the house. The meter is 20' from the main in the road, but replacing that portion would be ~$2500. Any help?
Have you checked with the City about the portion between the meter and mainline under the road? They may take responsibility for replacement if you replace your service line.
