Before you start replacing anything, test the parts, since a bad thermostat could keep the unit from heating, although it would not normally trip the circuit breaker.
: : Probably because it has not popped out. The upper element, and probably the bottom one also by now, is most likely burned out so it cannot heat the water, Which would be why the breaker tripped and not the reset.
: : : Our hot water heater threw it's breaker switch. I turned the breakers off completely and then on again and the tank did not start up. I then opened the panel and found the reset button, but cannot press the button in. What's happening and what do I do next?
