There are alarms designed for septic tanks that tell you if the level is too high through a mercury float switch.They will either sound the alarm or flash a light,but I haven't heard of anything for a bathtub.

That is a really good question. There are alarms designed for septic tanks that tell you if the level is too high through a mercury float switch.They will either sound the alarm or flash a light,but I haven't heard of anything for a bathtub.
