: I am building a bar and have base cabinets supporting a 3/4" plywood top. I want to tile this surface with 12"x12" ceramic tiles. My head tells me not to tile directly to the plywood, and that I should use hardi backer or wonder board as a tile surface. If I do this, I want to use 1/4" to conserver that space between this surface and the offset top of my bar. SHould I user hardi backer? It's the same price as wonderboard
