Installing cast iron tub

I'm thinking of installing a clawfoot cast iron tub. My floor is 1/2" particle board on top of 3/4" plywood on joists spaced 24" apart. I assume I need to replace the particle board with a stronger product, put in more joists, and put more posts in the crawl space. What should I use? The floor is uneven. Will the tub legs be adjustable? Also, what type of floor covering is best? Thanks, John
