Replacing shower fixtures with different brand

We are making a few changes in the bathroom and have some older Delta shower fixtures (individual turn controls for hot water, cold water and diverter). We want to change to a set of Price Pfister trim, etc. A couple of questions. 1. Is this feasible to do? We have access to the pipes, etc feeding the shower through an access window in the wall, but I don't know if it is reasonable to change from one manufacturer to another as I assume it will require changing valves and stems. 2. Is this something I (with limited plumbing experience) can do myself or should I hire a pro? Thanks for any help.
