Liberal amounts of WD-40 sprayed down the overflow pipe and a lot of prayers are the best, and only, way to get it out without opening a wall and disassembling the drain pipe. : Hi Terry, I am trying to remove the old overflow assembly (lever type) on a bathtub. However, it is stuck and will not budge! I only removed the overflow plate and tried to pull the old assembly out. I have not removed the strainer in the bottom of the tub, it is still intact.
