I wouldn't use a plunger beacuse you might damage the mechanism. Use a closet auger, they work better anyway. If a closet auger dosen't work, remove the toilet and use a regular snake.


: I have two American Standard "Vent Away" toilets that I cannot unplug using the standard plumber's helper. The shape of the outlet hole in the bottom of the bowl is not circular and that prevents a tight seal for the plumber's helper plunger to do it's job. Is there some other device or technique for unplugging this toilet?
