bathroom faucet diffucult to turn on

my bathroom faucet pulls on by pulling the (single) handle up. It has become exceeding difficult to pull to turn the water on. I don't know if it is a ball type, or cartidge type or disk type or what type of faucet it is. I can't get the handle off. I removed two screws but that doesn't seem to release anything. The only name on the fauced is "S" and 6400 series. Thank you!!
