Shower Stall Drain Problems
Posted by Jerry Washabau on December 29, 2001 at 10:49:04:
When my house was constructed the shower stall was placed so that there was a floor joist very close to the drain. Part of the joist was cut away to allow for the room required to place the drain. It places pressure on the pipe when you stand in the shower causing stress to the pipes joints and eventually causing them the leak. Could I replace the two inch drain pipe with a inch and a half pipe for just the trap area and then enlarge it back to two inches without any problem. The smaller pipe would bring it away from the joist.
