: It is a matter of definitions. As long as the seat is built to the same specifications as a tiled shower pan and the waterproof membrane terminates at the manufactured pan in such a way that any leakage is forced to travel to the pan and thence to the drain it will work.
: : Everything I read on your site seems to suggest that a shower seat sit within the pan itself, can it be done successfully outside the pan? For example, I purchased a kohler symbio shower pan and the set up at the home depot expo center had aseat in the display which was off to the side of the direction of the shower head, my thinking is to construct a solid seat outta wood construction, inset on the wall to the side of the shower head, cover it with waterproof membrane, then rockboard, with the bottom wall coming down on the edge lip of the pan. With proper pitch and little splah in the overall area I don't see why this wouldn't work? Any problems?
