That is probably what the line was designed for, but to be completely safe and legal the drain should not stick into the pipe but be secured about an inch or two above it.
: I just installed a new water softener. The garage was set up with a loop for the water lines and below this loop is a capped pvc pipe sticking out of the wall about 2 inches. Can I drill a hole in the top of this to insert the drain for the softener? There are no floor drains and the washer is too far away. Thanks.
