|In response to Re: Shower Seat Question,,Help HJ|
: Everything I read on your site seems to suggest that a shower seat sit within the pan itself, can it be done successfully outside the pan? For example, I purchased a kohler symbio shower pan and the set up at the home depot expo center had aseat in the display which was off to the side of the direction of the shower head, my thinking is to construct a solid seat outta wood construction, inset on the wall to the side of the shower head, cover it with waterproof membrane, then rockboard, with the bottom wall coming down on the edge lip of the pan. With proper pitch and little splah in the overall area I don't see why this wouldn't work? Any problems?
Yes, major problems. The folks at Home Depot are not building a shower; they are simply building a display. The shower pan must go under the seat.
