: I work for a housing department in Oklahoma and some of our potential contractors have called us abut our spec sheets and said that they would go with pex piping rather than copper. Pex is a new concept to me and i was wondering is it lasting? Is it durable? In Oklahoma we have unpredictable weather (humid summers, mild winters). I wanted to know if the Pex Pipe is conventional and cost-efficient? If you were fixing up homes and wanted to do a good, lasting job, what would you use?

I've been using PEX more and more. I used it in my last remodel of my home too.
Fewer joints, quieter, keeps the heat better in the hot lines.
It has been used in Europe for the last 26 years with good results.
Copper is not without it's faults.
A typical job will include some copper and a lot of PEX

I like the stuff.
