You cannot strip the threads and unless there is something wrong with one of the threads, tightening it more is the only way to stop the leak. I personally do not like the Cash Acme brand valve. : I recently put a new T&P value (Cash Acme Brand)on my water heater (Bradford White). I wrapped the male threads in two layers of teflon tape but its leaking around the threads (not the value itself). I turned it another 15 degrees but this did not stop it. I'm afraid of stripping the threads. I would appreciate any suggestions. Thanks in advance for all replies.
