Shower and tub

When I open the hot water for the shower I sometimes get the pipes to bang/vibrate. I have to close the hot water wait and then open again. The vibration is then gone and I can take a normal shower. I do not see hear this banging/vibration problem with other faucets. What could be the cause of this behavior? I would like to be informed before I call the plumber. Thanks for any assistance ...
