My guess is that a cheaper thin walled copper pipe was used in your home and is reacting to the well water causing the pin hole leaks. There are different grades of copper tubing and well water is very tough on plumbing pipes and fixtures. If the joints were not properly soldered or the wrong kind of solder was used could also cause problems.
