The most important thing to know is that you may not be able to do it. Lead waste pipe is very thing and anything that clamps to it, such as a Fernco coupling may just squeeze the lead rather than seal to it. : I have a 50+ year old house. I'm fixing a rusted drain pipe for a wet bar in my basement. I want to use plastic to connect to a lead pipe that leads to the main drain. Is there anything special I should know about connecting the plastic pipe to the lead pipe?
