fixing a poor flush

I have a 50's brick ranch with basement. Both toilets flush slowly. I have snaked both vents, piping, everything. The pipes of both toilets have very shallow 3 foot runs on a slope before they bend down into the waste stack. My question is: would removing this short run bend with an angle pipe that drops almost straight down to the stack joint on the basement floor improve the speed at which the water leaves the toilet? Obviously, removing the bend means having a naked pipe that won't hug the wall or joist.
