Hi Mike and Judy,

It's a good idea to set the base in cement mortar whether the floor is level or not. Mix about a bucket-full of mortar, place four mounds of it on the floor and push the base down into it, using a level to ensure all four sides of the base are level. When you get it down as far as it will go and yet remain level, put a few nails into the studs above the base's rim to hold it in place while the mortar sets.
