The most likely problem is that the lower element has burned out. But if that is the problem, it could also have affected the thermostats. It is best that you have a plumber check the system and replace any bad parts. : We have a State Water Heater. It all of a sudden has : started heating up extremly hot. No one has adjusted : the temp setting since it was installed 5 years ago, : but now the water is very,very hot. What could be : wrong?
