My house was built in 1953 on a concrete slab. Floor throughout house is chronically damp, but worse after rainstorms and after running washing machine in kitchen. Vinyl floor installed last year in kitchen is beginning to fail (bubbles and calcium stains). I do not see or hear any leaks. Water meter does not budge when water is shut off in house.
I called a plumber last year. He came out, took a quick look, said he couldn't tell me anything without tearing out wall between kitchen and bathroom, charged $90 and left.
Any ideas about how to proceed at this point?
