In response to Re: Dip Tube

: Terry, thanks for the advice about the dip tube possibly being the problem with white granules in my lines.....the hot water heater is gas and was put in about three years ago....could it be gone already??? Also, any hints on how I check the dip tube and what to look for? Thanks for your help.

All of my dip tube links are bad now.
There was a big problem with bad dip tubes and a lawsuit over them. I'm having a hard time finding information on the web about it now.

From Clark Howard
Dip Tube Settlement Over

A. O. Smith and the other major water heater manufacturers were defendants in a class action lawsuit that was filed in federal court in 1999. The class action covers owners of water heaters that have defective dip tubes manufactured by Perfection Corporation. If you own an A. O. Smith water heater that was manufactured between August, 1993 and March, 1997, you are a member of the class of water heater owners covered by the class action unless you filed an official
notice with the court that you wanted to be excluded from the class.
