Installing shower in condo

I'm investigating whether or not it's feasible to install a second shower in our condominium. There is hot and cold water as well as a drain and vent in an adjacent wall to where I want to place the shower. The difficulty is the floor is concrete (topping slab - approx 1" thick). I was hoping to avoid having to remove the concrete, or ask the unit owners below us if I can tear out their ceiling to put in the drain. Is there a way to construct the shower pan higher than normal to accomodate the drain and p-trap and then slope over to connect to the existing drain in the adjacent wall? It seems to me this would significantly raise the level of the floor. Anyone have any experience with this type of installation?
