There are several drawbacks starting with the fact that the standing water will create a vibration when the disposer is turned on and the water will cause the disposer parts to corrode unless you have a stainless steel model. : I want to install a disposer under my sink but the disposer's discharge is about 1 inch lower than the drain line under my sink. I believe this will cause standing water in the disposer. Is this a really bad thing? What are the drawbacks of the standing water? Lowering the drain line is not an option at this point. : Glenn
