Sewage backup into basement

Today here in Chicago we received 5 inches of rain in two hours with a ton of flooding. The toilet in my basement looked like Mt Vesuvius erupting (thankfully only up a couple of inches. COnsequently, the sewer backed up and I had about 3 inches of sewage in the basement. Is there any one-way valve that can be placed in the sewer line to keep this from happening again? In ten years in the house, I've never had this problem. Thanks in advance!
Matt
