Help! Broken Floor Flange
Posted by Jon leeds on July 30, 2001 at 10:49:27:
I have a big problem. I pulled the toilet out, installed tile, got one of those plastic extenders for the floor flange, caulked it so it would make a nice seal with the existing floor flange, put my wax ring on, put the toiled down, tightened the bolts(yes too far) and broke the original floor flange on both sides. I thought, no problem, I'll just unscrew the original flange and replace it. The problem is the original flange is attached (I'm assuming it's glued) to the drain pipe. I thought about gluing the broken parts back down, then using the extender flange bolt holes with some long screws, to fasten the whole thing down. Help! Can the floor flange be removed? Do I have to saw it out? I would sincerely appreciate some advice. Thanks,
Jon
