This was a common occurance in the 50's in the South. Electric heaters were being sold as being as safe as light bulbs and since they had the ECO on the thermostat, they were being installed without T&P valves. I wish all the plumbers who told me that this could not happen were able to see the report.

: The electric heater, about the size of an oil drum, flew over a Taco Bell and into a Pizza Hut parking lot 460 feet away on First Avenue Southwest. No one was hit.
