The noise is probably the ballcock closing so replacing it will cure the noise. You might also check your water pressure since high pressure will cause high velocity noises in a conventional ballcock as the aperture gets smaller while shutting off. : We have a noise that occurs after the toilet is flushed and the tank is filled.
