: we are building a new house and the plumber wants to use PEX tubing instead of copper. What is the track record for this PEX system, are there failures after 10-years. They are quoting an equivalent cost to copper saying that there is labor savings, but added material costs. Any advice is helpful

It has been in use in Europe for 26 years.
I have been using it on re-pipes, a very nice product. Less noise, more insulating qualities, fewer joints to leak, less holes in drywall.
