: we are installing a pedastal sink and the pipes don't come out of the wall they come out of the floor. The space in the back of the sink is about 5 inches wide and our pipes are about a half and inch to and inch to wider. How can we work around this.

Without seeing it, it is a bit hard to say.
You will want a p-trap, and someway to vent it or to break the siphon. In this case you may want to go with an air emitter valve like the Studor.
