In response to Re: Re-soldering a copper sweat fitting
: After sweating all the copper connections on a new tub/shower control I discovered a leak when I turned the water back on. I drained the water out of the lines again, cleaned the area with steel wool as best I could, put more flux on the fitting and reheated it. I was able to re-sweat it and stop the leak. While the leak is stopped for now I'm concerned that over time it may leak again. With the water back on the system is under pressure so I'll watch for a few days before I close up the wall. What are your thoughts?

: Is there a better way to re-solder a connection? How do I know if enough solder got in and around the fitting?

: Thanks for your advice,

: Rick
Resoldering a fitting without taking it apart is just a shot in the dark. There is no way to know how good a job you did. and odds are against it being a good job.

a better way??? Heat it, pull it apart, dry it, clean it, coat with flux, stick it back together, solder it.
