: Old bowls are discolored around the water line with a permanent stain that won't go away. Appears to have eaten into the ceramic finish. It mostly disappears with cleaning but comes back soon. Hate to switch to lo-cal toilets if there is any other option. Can I just replace the bowls and keep my old tanks? These have three bolts. Any advice on how to shop for a matching bowl short of trial and error and returns to the home store?

Don't do it. Just pick out a toilet from the report below, and don't worry so much. Many of the new toilets work better than the old ones. Terry
