: I am in the process of finishing my basement bathroom and have come up with a few questions that : I need answered.: I have three pipes coming up through the bassement floor (1) toilet drain 4" PVC, (2) vent stack 2" PVC, : (3) I believe it is intended to be a shower or tub drain 2" PVC stub. The drain pipe is not located : convenientlyto place my shower over it. I want to run the drain from the shower above the floor to this : drain by raising the floor in the shower by a few inches. This will not allow for an airtrap directly below : the shower. : Has the "roughed in" plumbing accounted for that with a trap below the stub? : How much grade does this above floor drain pipe need as it travels the 4 feet from shower to drain? : (I've heard 1/4" per foot) : Any help would be appreciated. : Thanks : GJB 1/4" per foot is correct. as far as the question, does the 2" pvc drain have a trap in it? pour water into the pipe and look in with a flashlight, if you see water then you have a trap. if you do not have a trap, it would be more professional to hammer up the floor to install a trap instead of raising the floor.
