: : Hi : : I need help with a problem with galvanized steel kitchen sink drain. I have just bought this houes about 50 : : years old. The kitchen sink drain system is galvanized steel. It runs from the ptrap at least ************25'***********to the main : : sewage drain. It is rusted, but I may be able to clean it out. Should I just replace the drainage system : : with abs or should I just snake this line to remove debris. If I do this will it hold up? : : Thank you very much in advance!!: Mark Arroyo Mark, I have seen steel pipes rust out from the bottom under some conditions on kitchen drains. Much more corrisive stuff goes down a kitchen drain. You could either snake the line, or replace it with ABS/PVC schedule 40 pipe. Often you can find a 2" hub to connect to and increase pipe size a the same time. Terry
