I have an old steam-based heating system. The pipes leading to the radiators from the boiler were at one time covered with an asbestos-based insulation. I recently had an asbestos removal contractor remove the insulation, and now I need to reinsulate the pipes. It seems like a fairly easy do-it-yourself project, but I'm not sure what the best product would be. The pipes vary in thickness between 3 and 5 inches in diameter, and they get very hot when the heater is on. I know that Owens-Corning makes tube-shaped fiberglass insulation that looks fairly easy to install. Any suggestions? |
