First step: Document absolutely every detail before you forget them, then get a good lawyer. It may also help to get an opinion from a good Professional Engineer who does building inspections. Also, call your insurance agent pronto. You should have coverage for this kind of thing. Good luck! My heartfelt sympathies to you.
