: I have a Badger 5 !\2 hrspwr insinkerator. My problem is when the dishwasher empties into it- the water will not drain untill I turn the insikerator on. Once on- it drains quickly. It also will not drain if the water is turned on; and same as before it drains quickly when insinkerator is on. Is this part of its regular operation or should it drain without the insinkerator on? Darlene, It should drain without the motor running. You may have to take the waste ell off the disposer and clean it.It can be a stinky job though. Dale's Plumbing Service Inc
