|In response to Re: installing a tub surround|
It depends on the type of surround you have. If it has a recessed lip, then it should be installed against the studs and the green board placed over the lip. If it is a "glue on" surround, then it goes on after the greenboard is in place.
: We are attempting to install a tub with a tub surround. We used to have just a tub (no shower) with ceramic tile (over plaster walls) with a window. We tore everything out...plywooded the window up. We insulated and greenboarded the walls around the tub but now I believe we did something wrong. I noticed since we've done this that other folks seem to have the greenboard cover "the lip"? at the top and sides of the surround tubs they have installed. I'm not sure if they have anything behind them or not. What and how do you install behind and above surround tub and walls?
