If you think the pipe is expensive, think what it would cost to repair your house when the black pipe rusts out in a couple of years and starts leaking. But, since the green pipe is just black pipe with a coating, you must reseal all places where the coating is even slightly damaged. In my area you cannot buy any alternative material until you are a certified installer. : I went to Home depot today and the salesman said that I need to buy the green pipe(scotch pipe) for underground gas pipe installation. He said I cannot use the ordinary black pipe for outdoor underground gas line installation. : The "the green pipe" is more expensive and for my 100 ft instllation it is considerable. : Please comment. : Thanks
